Kitsune Tails

Kitsune are born with a single tail, when they reach puberty they go into hibernation for a period of about a month as their bodies change, as this point, their second and third tails grow in, and for those few kitsune who are winged, their wings also emerge at this point. Kitsune grow further tails as they age, generally about on every one hundred years, approximately. Among the Kitsune, the number of tails is a symbol of status, and prestige. The oldest, wisest and most powerful kitsune are the nine-tailed female matriarchs known as the Matrons
