Outward appearance and characteristics

Height: Average height is One-hundred Thirty centimetres, standard deviation from this is in increments of Five centimetres.

Mass: Average body mass is Thirty-two kilograms, standard deviation from this is in increments of One Kilogram.

Lifespan: The average lifespan of a Squizzle is roughly equivalent to humans, however unlike humans there is negligible differentiation between the sexes in lifespan.

General Physical Description: Squizzles are essentially a slightly modified anthropomorphic scuirine, that is, they look like bipedal squirrels with some extra bits tacked on. Specifically they tend toward lithe slim body types, excellent for when you're arboreal and leaping through the trees. They have two pairs of arms the second pair being mounted halfway down their torso from their primary arms, the secondary pair can be retracted into the body thanks to special organs situated just under the pectoral muscles that govern both pairs. Although the Squizzle pectoral muscles are dual layered and function separately for each pair, they occupy the equivalent space humans' pectorals do. The secondary arms are usually slightly less muscularly defined than the primaries, their skeletal structure is also rather than full bone collapsible cartilage. Their backs feature spines which are also retractable and made of the same cartilage as their secondary arms, they flex with the Squizzle's back and are generally Twenty-four centimetres in length in the longest with the other two being Four-fifths and Three-fifths as long each, the latter being the lower spine and the longest the middle. They feature long bushy tails that generally are Six-fifths their height in total length and generally is Eleven-tenths the the breadth of their shoulders at its broadest point. The tail is mildly prehensile, but is at maximum One-quarter the maximum strength of the primary arms.
Their ears are long and expressive usually the interior features a secondary colour to their pelt, and often the extremities of their aural receptors are marked in their tertiary colour though this is not always present. The ear is pointed at the tip and generally is Nineteen centimetres from the base of the ear to the tip, at its broadest point they are usually Seven centimetres. Standard deviation from both measurements is Five millimetres.
They grow a pair of antennae just above their hairline that they can retract fully as the specialized sensory organs are very delicate and generally protected vehemently. They are at the maximum Fifteen centimetres in length and taper from the base to the sensory bulbs at the ends from Twenty-five millimetres to Ten millimetres. The bulbs are prolate spheroids and are usually a dark shade of their primary pelt colour. They are manoeuvrable in much the same manner that the tongue is, though typically they stand out at an arc from the head spread at an angle of One-Pi-sixths radians from each other.
They sprout a topcoat of hair on their heads that protrudes from their primary pelt and is indistinguishable in texture from human hair, males grow a small amount on their chins after puberty. If they have a tertiary pelt colour it usually matches their head hair. It is style-able in much the same way that human hair is, however it is rare to see a Squizzle with their head hair fully shaved off.
Their faces feature large eyes which range in colour from Blue to Grey to Green to Brown to Amber to Purple and back to Blue. The iris is usually One-third of the visible portion of their eye, the Four-sixths is devoted to the bright white of a healthy and well rested Squizzle, if they start to get bloodshot, the individual probably has not slept recently. The remaining Sixth is their pupil which expands to to fill the space of the iris leaving it a narrow oval or narrows so small as to be nearly a pinhole, lending them excellent vision in especially brightly lit places and in those exceedingly dim. Heterochromia is very common amongst Squizzles approximately Twenty-five percent of Squizzles are born with two differently coloured eyes, usually their parents are Homochromatic, and their child receive one of each colour.

Fur: Fur is generally very short and very dense on their bodies, it is downy soft. It rarely exceeds One centimetre in length from the body. Generally the pelt is thinnest at the under portion of the primary arms, between the thighs and on the belly about the navel. Generally it is two tone, the primary colour ranging from Soot Black to Steel Grey to Dark Brown to Brownish Red. The secondary colour usually is much lighter in shade than the primary, except the Soot Black variety, which is usually a Very Dark Grey, usually Steel Grey is matched with Aluminum Grey, Dark Brown with Yellowish Brown, and Brownish Red receives Creamy Off-white. The secondary colour is present on the face from as little as the underside of their muzzle's chin, to their entire muzzle and around their eyes, the belly and underside of their primary arms, as well as the groin and inside of the thighs and buttocks are this colour. The tail's underside is the secondary colour as well. Their tertiary fur colour generally appears at random but usually as minor markings on their cheeks, typically vertically aligned long flecks. If the tertiary colouration is particularly strong it will be on the toes, fingers, ear tips, and the last Twenty centimetres of their tails. The fur of the tail is the longest portion, but can be easily squeezed down to just the muscle and bone of the tail sticking out from the end about Thirty-two centimetres.

Biology and Internal Body Structure

Squizzles have a organs that are redundantly featured in comparison to the equivalent human organ, for instance the Squizzle Liver has a small secondary that takes over for the primary should it become overtaxed, and generally grows larger if the primary is injured. This is one reason Squizzles have higher tolerances for stimulants and depressants than humans though it is no more healthy for them. The Squizzle pancreas is featured in triplicate, diabetes threatens a minuscule percentage of their population. They have two stomachs, which break different foodstuffs down at different rates, making them more easily metabolised. Their hearts are approximately equivalent to human hearts not being significantly different. The Squizzle lungs are symmetrical. Their skeletal structure is vastly similar to human skeletal structure, however the collapsible cartilage of their secondary arms and spines protrude from the shoulder-blades and three separate vertebra respectively. The muscles that govern the secondary arms are contiguous to the abdominal muscles and fold in with them and augment them when not in extended position, also offering a warming layer to the delicate organs. Squizzle blood is also iron based much like human blood. The endocrine system is negligibly different.

Antennae: The Squizzle's antennae are sensitive to non-visible electromagnetic radiation and are capable of using it to navigate, they are also sensitive to hormones, and are capable of secreting very specific hormones in almost trace amounts. These hormones are generally used in relationship bonds, particularly between mates, and parents to their children. Though they can smell the hormones with the olfactory receptors in their noses, Squizzles can get much finer information from the subtle variations in the hormones that they detect, though effective range is generally only within their wingspan. The electromagnetic detection sense however can detect very weak radio signals and detect a magnetic field as week as one picoGauss, though it generally has to be within their wingspan also. Stronger signals and fields are detectable at greater distances, for instance a Squizzle on Earth can detect Jupiter's magnetic field when it is halfway between it's nearest approach and furthest distance from Earth. They can also detect solar weather though this is more in a detecting activity level and is not very specific as it is all coming from one direction. They are somewhat sensitive to cold and an are less sensitive when retracted.

Spines: The Squizzle spines act as a secondary inner ear allowing for very agile balance. These organs are very sensitive to cold much the same way human ears are, generally they are not fully extended in cold climates, if at all.

Sleep Cycle: Squizzles generally sleep Six human hours during the summer periods on their planet, the further north they live the shorter this period is. During the winter they will sleep as much as Twenty-four hours a day, the Squizzle's homeworld has a rotational period of almost exactly Twenty-five hours. However with sufficient day length they generally do not go into their winter torpor phase. Generally during this period they keep their antennae, spines, and secondary arms retracted to prevent their damage by the cold.

Breasts: Females have a single pair of breasts and nipples, males do not have nipples. Female breasts range from A to C cup sizes equivalent to their size in comparison to humans.

Maturity: Squizzles have a longer childhood than humans reaching puberty at their Nineteenth orbit of their homeworld or about Eighteen human years. However Squizzle puberty in comparison is very short, lasting only three orbits or about Two and a half human years. The final Twenty-five centimetres of height are achieved in this short period, the single fastest period of growth.


Names: Squizzles have names they use amongst themselves and use the closest most phonetically close name in English to be polite. Surnames are generally associated with familial attitude, rather than standing or occupation.

Language: The Squizzle language is very close in syntactic formation to English, but uses a writing system more closely related to Japanese. Mathematics is heavily contiguous to their language and they appreciate the standardization of the human metric system, and have adopted it.

Sex: Generally Squizzles mate privately, and consider it significant to their relationship. However, they have several classes of sex, and the most private is one that they share only amongst themselves, not for lack of trying. They will willingly participate with other races depending on the relationship.
